Kurti Meets Senior Belgian Official, Discusses Kosovo’s Path to the EU

During his visit to Paris as part of the Peace Forum, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti held a meeting with the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, Peter De Roover.

According to a government press release, the discussions focused on bilateral relations between Kosovo and the Kingdom of Belgium, cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and the latest developments in the country and the region.

“Prime Minister Kurti informed President De Roover about Kosovo’s economic achievements, including an average annual economic growth of 6% over the past four years and a doubling of foreign direct investments. He also highlighted the favorable conditions and advantages Kosovo offers for foreign investment, as well as significant government investments in the agriculture and defense sectors, and reforms undertaken in social welfare policies,” the statement said.

The meeting also addressed Kosovo’s journey toward European Union membership.

“Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the importance and positive impact of visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens and the EU membership application submitted in December 2022, marking a significant step that demonstrates the country’s institutional commitment to democratic reforms and European integration,” the Government of Kosovo announced.
