Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Liza Gashi and Consul General Blerim Reka, welcomed U.S. Congressman George Latimer of the Democratic Party at Kosovo’s Consulate General in New York.

The meeting focused on the latest developments in Kosovo and the region, as well as on strengthening the partnership between Kosovo and the United States.

Kurti briefed Congressman Latimer on Kosovo’s economic progress, efforts in fighting corruption, and improvements in the rule of law, which have been recognized in international reports.

He also expressed gratitude for the historic and ongoing role of the United States in ensuring Kosovo’s security, peace in the Balkans, and for the consistent bipartisan support from Washington throughout Kosovo’s development.

Both sides agreed to continue promoting shared values and interests, with an emphasis on infrastructure investments and economic cooperation. This comes in light of the Kosovo government’s recent decision to lift tariffs on U.S.-origin products, a move aimed at boosting bilateral trade.
