The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met today with the UN Coordinator in Kosovo, Arnhild Spence, to discuss the “ongoing cooperation” between government institutions and UN agencies.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Kurti praised the contribution of the UN to the country’s development and emphasized the Kosovo Government’s commitment to the principle “that no one is left behind, placing social justice at the center of state policies.”
“The meeting also discussed the importance of justice for the victims of sexual violence during the war, highlighting the necessity of treating this issue as a war crime and the obligation to ensure continuous institutional support for the survivors. Furthermore, the issue of diploma verification was addressed, where the Government of Kosovo decided to extend the mandate of the Commission for this important process, ensuring that every citizen has an equal opportunity to exercise their academic and professional rights,” the statement reads.
They also discussed “the importance of digitization for increasing transparency and efficiency in public administration across the country, a priority of the Kosovo Government on the path of modernizing state institutions.”
The Government of Kosovo stated that it has established legal mechanisms for “regulated and effective cooperation with UN agencies in the country, deepening the partnership in areas of strategic importance for development and the well-being of citizens.”
