Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with KFOR Commander Ozkan Ulutash to discuss the opening of the main bridge over the Ibër River.
Kurti emphasized that opening the Ibër Bridge is a just, necessary, and beneficial move. The Prime Minister informed the KFOR Commander about the ongoing work on the bridge and shared the preliminary results of the stability assessment report submitted by the economic operator to the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure.
As part of the necessary steps for the bridge’s opening, Kurti recalled a public meeting held on August 8th with citizens of North Mitrovica, which included Serbian community members, NGOs, and representatives from central and local levels, as well as KFOR and EULEX.
The government’s statement expressed Kurti’s confidence that freedom of movement, the rule of law, peace, and security are all possible and necessary together.
The meeting also covered dealing with the recent wildfires during the hot summer days and the assistance KFOR could provide in extinguishing them.
Prime Minister Kurti, accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, Minister of Local Government Administration Elbert Krasniqi, and Deputy General Director of the Kosovo Police Fehmi Hoti, thanked KFOR Commander Ulutas for the cooperation and regular communication.
