Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that without NATO’s intervention in Kosovo in 1999, the genocidal project of Milosevic’s regime would not have been halted.

In an appearance with journalist Christiane Amanpour on CNN, Kurti said that Milosevic’s police and military forces wanted Kosovo only as territory, but without its Albanian people.

“Previously, there had been dozens of massacres against the civilian population in Kosovo where children, women, and the elderly were killed, women were raped, entire homes and villages were burned, and all of this was part of Milosevic’s genocidal project to have Kosovo without its people, without Albanians.

So, they saw our land as territory, not as people, and they wanted those people either killed or expelled.

And Operation ‘Horseshoe’ was being carried out when NATO intervened and stopped Serbia’s genocide. Therefore, the stopping of the genocide and the liberation of our country, and the bringing of peace in the end, were one and the same thing that was enabled and later guaranteed by NATO,” stated Prime Minister Albin Kurti in this interview.
