Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, expressed heartfelt condolences following the death of Janusz Bugajski, the renowned American analyst and Balkans expert.
Kurti described Bugajski as a figure whose absence will be deeply felt in literature, media, the intellectual community, and by all of us.
He wrote: “Heartfelt condolences to the family of the beloved and late Janusz Bugajski, as well as to all who knew him during his lifetime.”
Bugajski, a scholar, prolific author, and foreign policy expert, was widely respected for his integrity, intellect, and contributions to raising awareness about the Balkans over several decades. Beyond academia, he also served in U.S. administrations and appeared regularly on television, sharing his expertise.
Kurti added that he had met Bugajski several times over two decades, beginning in 1997, praising him as an analyst combining competence, fairness, and humanity.
Bugajski’s passing represents a significant loss for books, media, intellectual circles, and the broader community.
