Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has reaffirmed that cooperation with NATO remains crucial for strengthening the country’s defense capabilities and advancing its strategic partnership, speaking during the handover ceremony of the NATO Advisory and Liaison Team (NALT) leadership.

Kurti highlighted that Kosovo’s security institutions have been built on sustained cooperation with NATO and its member states.

“Kosovo has developed its security institutions based on close and enduring collaboration with NATO and its member countries. The Kosovo Security Force today is a professional, reliable institution, continually evolving,” Kurti said.

He noted that the progress achieved is the result of both internal commitment and steadfast support from international partners.

“This progress reflects our internal dedication as well as the unwavering support of our partners, for which we are eternally grateful,” he added.

Kurti also praised the role of the NATO Advisory and Liaison Team (NALT), describing it as essential for enhancing institutional defense capabilities.

“Through strategic advice, professional assistance, and daily cooperation, NALT has directly contributed to operational capacity building, strengthening democratic governance, and raising institutional standards,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, amid global security challenges, coordination with strategic partners is more important than ever, and NATO’s presence in Kosovo remains a key factor for regional security.

“Kosovo’s membership in NATO remains a strategic objective, and the progress we are achieving today and every day confirms that we are on the right path,” Kurti stated.

During the ceremony, Kurti expressed special appreciation to outgoing NALT Director, Brigadier General Dr. Lange, for his contributions to advancing cooperation and strengthening Kosovo’s defense capacities.

“His work has left a lasting mark on the development of the Kosovo Security Force and the consolidation of our defense institutions,” Kurti said.

He also wished success to Lange’s successor, Brigadier General Thomas Schulte-Borghoff, expressing confidence in his commitment and professionalism.

Kurti concluded by reaffirming Kosovo’s dedication to peace, security, and its Euro-Atlantic orientation, thanking partners for their ongoing cooperation and support.
