Caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that the government is awaiting the full judgment of the Constitutional Court regarding the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo, reports Rks News.
“We are waiting for the judgment,” Kurti said.
On September 30, 2025, the Constitutional Court ruled that the constitutive session of the Assembly has not been completed due to the failure to elect a Deputy Speaker from the Serb minority MPs. Deputies are now obliged to finalize the session within 12 days from the entry into force of this decision.
The Court, acting on the request of MP Igor Simiqi and nine other MPs, stated:
“To establish that the Constitutive Session of the Assembly, which began on April 15, 2025, has not been concluded as a result of the non-election of the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly from among the Serb community deputies, and that the Assembly has not been constituted in compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.”
The Court ordered the session to be finalized within the set timeframe, emphasizing that MPs must act in the best interest of the Republic, in line with the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
Additionally, the Court extended the temporary measure until the judgment enters into force.
