Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti has refrained from revealing when his party will submit the name of the new prime ministerial candidate to President Vjosa Osmani.
During the launch of construction works at the Suharekë stadium, Kurti was asked by journalists about the timing of the nomination. He briefly replied that such issues are “matters of Prishtina.”
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Albulena Haxhiu announced that Vetëvendosje will hold a General Council meeting to vote on the nominee. According to her, the meeting will take place “extraordinarily and quickly, due to the circumstances.”
She added that once the council decides, the party will forward the chosen name to the president.
This comes after the Assembly Presidency meeting failed yesterday, as PDK and LDK representatives did not attend. Speaker Dimal Basha — elected from Vetëvendosje — was chosen, along with four deputy speakers: Albulena Haxhiu (Vetëvendosje), Vlora Çitaku (PDK), Kujtim Shala (LDK), and Emilija Rexhepi (non-Serb minorities).
However, since the fifth deputy speaker from the Serb community was not elected, Basha declared on Saturday that all options had been exhausted and described the constitutive session as closed.
