Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti pledged that Kosovo will never stop seeking justice for the crimes committed by Serbia against the Albanian people, stressing that those responsible must be brought before the courts.

Kurti made the remarks while paying tribute on the 27th anniversary of the Reçak Massacre, at the memorial where the names of the 45 civilians massacred by the Serbian regime led by Slobodan Milošević are engraved.

“Twenty-seven years ago, from here in Reçak, through Ambassador William Walker, the truth was revealed to the world about Serbia’s war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crime of genocide committed as a state against the Albanian people in Kosovo,” Kurti said.

He emphasized that the Reçak Massacre awakened and mobilized international public opinion and Western diplomatic institutions, marking a turning point in global awareness of Serbia’s crimes in Kosovo.

“We are gathered here today—as leaders of institutions, together with mayors, members of government and parliament, and other state officials—to express our pain over this open wound, which still lacks justice, but also our firm commitment that we will always remain engaged in bringing the criminals before justice and punishing them for the atrocities committed 27 years ago,” Kurti stated.

Kurti concluded by honoring the victims and fallen fighters:

“Glory to the 45 martyrs of Reçak and to the 11 heroes of the nation, led by Commander Ahmet Kaçiku.”
