Albin Kurti, leader of Vetëvendosje, addressed the Kosovo Assembly during his speech prior to the vote for the Kurti 3 government, commenting on the ongoing trial at The Hague against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli, and Rexhep Selimi.

Kurti stated:

“The prosecution’s claims seeking 45-year sentences for each, including charges of crimes against humanity, are attempts that contradict the truth and ignore the historical and political context of our liberation struggle.”

He emphasized the position of the Kosovo government:

“In Kosovo, crimes against the Albanian civilian population were committed by the Yugoslav regime under Milosevic. This is well-documented and internationally recognized. Equating KLA leaders with a genocidal regime is unacceptable and a distortion of facts and history.”

Kurti’s remarks underline the government’s commitment to defending the historical context of Kosovo’s liberation while engaging in international judicial proceedings.
