In today’s government meeting, Prime Minister Albin Kurti highlighted investments in defense. He announced that more than 1 billion euros will be allocated to the army in the new mandate, emphasizing significant plans for strengthening Kosovo’s defense capabilities.
“We will have a munition factory and military drones made in Kosovo, meaning we will produce them ourselves. Unlike before, we have started purchasing and, from now on, we will begin producing what we have previously been buying,” Kurti said.
The Prime Minister also pointed out the deepened cooperation with the United States, particularly in energy and defense sectors. “Our government has received the largest grant ever from the U.S., worth 202 million dollars, for the electric battery system. From our defense cooperation with the U.S., we have purchased the ‘Javelin’ anti-tank missile system and will also be purchasing ‘Black Hawk’ helicopters,” he added.
