The partnership between Kosovo and the United Kingdom is essential for defending against Russia’s hybrid warfare, said the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo following a meeting between Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper in London.

According to the official statement, discussions focused on the main topics of the Berlin Process Summitsecurity, economic growth, and migration — described as crucial for both the Western Balkans and the United Kingdom.

“The security of Kosovo is the security of its borders. Our partnership with the United Kingdom is key to protecting against Russia’s hybrid warfare and its influence in the Western Balkans, including disinformation and illicit financing,” said Kurti.

Defense and Strategic Cooperation

Kurti emphasized that Kosovo is investing in innovation, education, and defense partnerships, underlining the importance of close cooperation with the UK. He also highlighted Kosovo’s potential for strategic investment projects with British partners.

The statement further noted that Kurti described Kosovo as the most democratic country in the region and the fastest-growing economy, citing data from Gallup and Transparency International.

Euro-Atlantic Integration and Regional Security

Kurti reaffirmed that Kosovo’s key priorities are membership in NATO and the European Union, stressing that partnership with the UK can help advance these goals.

“Through our partnership with the United Kingdom, we can move closer to integration into the North Atlantic Alliance while also working toward new international recognitions,” the statement read.

Kurti also referenced the terrorist attack in Banjska, condemning the release of the perpetrators despite Milan Radoičić’s confession, warning that their release represents a continued threat to Kosovo’s security.

Minority Rights and Migration Cooperation

Kurti reaffirmed that Kosovo is a model for minority rights protection and expressed readiness to support the UK on migration management.

“Together, we are strengthening border security and fighting organized crime,” the statement concluded.
