On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the massacre in Millosheva carried out by Serbian forces, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, accompanied by MP Halil Thaçi, paid tribute at the monument of the four members of the Morina family, in the yard of the House of Culture, near the commemorative plaque of the Morina family from the village of Hade.
During the tribute, Kurti said that today marks the 26th anniversary of the killing of four members of the Morina family: activist Fejzullah Morina and his three sons, UÇK soldier Lavdim Morina, as well as two children, Fidaim Morina and Shkëlzen Morina.
Prime Minister Kurti recalled that 13% of those killed during the war in Kosovo were children, recalling the fallen from this massacre, Fidaim, who was 14 years old, and Shkëlzen, who was 10 years old.
“Therefore, almost every seventh person killed in the last war of 1998/1999 was a child,” Kurti emphasized further, as reported by the Government of Kosovo.
To commemorate the fallen children across Kosovo in a dignified manner, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, through the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports, will erect a central memorial in honor and remembrance of all the children killed during the war in Kosovo, so that beyond the anniversaries of specific events and beyond the places all over Kosovo where these children were killed, they may also be remembered with a shared memorial.
“Eternal may be the memory of Fejzullah, Lavdim, Fidaim, and Shkëlzen Morina, because without their blood, and that of all the martyrs and heroes of our nation, Kosovo would not have been liberated, would not have been independent, and today we would not have the development of democracy,” said Kurti.
