Pristina, July 28, 2025 — The political party Alternativa, led by Mimoza Kusari-Lila, marked its 8th anniversary on Sunday with a ceremony in Pristina attended by prominent political figures from the governing bloc.
Among the attendees were the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV), Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and the co-leader of the Guxo Party, Faton Peci. The event, described by Alternativa as “magnificent,” celebrated the party’s growth and contribution to Kosovo’s political landscape.
In his speech, Kurti highly praised the collaboration between Vetëvendosje and Alternativa, a partnership that has lasted for six years. He even suggested that their cooperation “might be included in political science textbooks” as a model for coalition-building and governance.
“I feel honored to be with you tonight as we mark eight years since the founding of Alternativa. For six years, the Vetëvendosje Movement and Alternativa have walked together on the institutional path of the Republic of Kosovo,” Kurti stated.
“Alternativa has consistently increased its vote share, and this year, compared to eight years ago, its leader Mimoza has more than quadrupled her support. She is a vital pillar in coordinating between the legislative and executive branches.”
Kurti further praised Kusari-Lila’s strength and tireless political engagement, saying, “She never stopped working, and we’ve never seen the limits of her strength.”
Faton Peci also commended Alternativa’s role, stating that it represents values of cooperation and political stability.
“Wherever Alternativa has had representation, I’ve witnessed commitment and maximum engagement. Mimoza is a positive example and a point of reference for future generations,” Peci said.
Closing the event, Kusari-Lila reflected on the party’s founding, describing it as a vision for new thinking in politics—liberal, inclusive, and youth-driven.
“One truth keeps being reaffirmed to us: democracy and a free state cannot be taken for granted. They must be maintained and cultivated every day, at every level, with love and passion,” she concluded.
