Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in a ceremony today marking the 40th anniversary of the Evangelical Protestant Church, “People of God Community.”

In his address, Kurti emphasized that the Protestant Church has been a voice of social peace, human dignity, and public service for the common good. He added that this aligns with Kosovo’s vision for a democratic, developed, equal, and inclusive society.

Four Decades of Spiritual and Societal Contribution

Kurti highlighted that the journey and activity of this Church bear witness to a spiritual, civic, and human path of the community of believers, who have served God and the community with dedication and modesty.

“During four decades, the Church has been a place of faith, a beacon of hope, a space of solidarity, and a center of inclusion in the coexistence of our society,” he said.

He cited cultural and religious diversity as fundamental pillars of the country, stating that they represent one of the main assets of Kosovo’s inclusive and democratic state. “Coexistence and interfaith respect are values that we preserve and cultivate with pride,” he added.

Honoring Educational Contributions and Future Outlook

Concluding his speech, the Prime Minister acknowledged and appreciated the history, identity, and diverse richness of Kosovo, as well as the role of these in promoting fundamental human rights and freedoms. He commended the Protestant community’s commitment to fostering dialogue, education, social services, and assistance to those most in need, citing it as an example worthy of appreciation.

“And in particular, here I would emphasize the role in education, because we all know that Gjerasim Qiriazi was a teacher in the Albanian school in Korça in 1887, and this tradition of contributing to Albanian education is vital for our nation because Albanians, first and foremost, are a nation of language, and education is the institutionalization of the nation, as a nation of language. And on this jubilee anniversary, distinguished attendees, I want to express my gratitude and that of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for your valuable contribution to our country. I wish this anniversary to be a point of reflection and faith to move forward and together,” he concluded.
