Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has raised concerns over the delay in the publication of the Constitutional Court’s latest ruling, suggesting that the situation may be more complex than it appears.
Speaking to the media after attending the Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture, Kurti stressed that his government has always respected the decisions of the Constitutional Court. However, he hinted that this ruling could be different.
“There is no ruling of the Constitutional Court that my government has not respected, and none that I, as leader of Vetëvendosje, have failed to respect. But when I am repeatedly asked whether I will respect this ruling, it makes me think it may be unusual, unjust, and intolerable — to the point where we might need to consider what to do,” Kurti said.
Kurti pointed to the unusual delay in publishing the full ruling, unlike the case on June 26, when the Court issued both its notification and full judgment on the same day.
“This time, on August 8, we received only the notification — but not yet the full judgment, which we need to review in its entirety. This delay raises doubts and suggests inconsistencies. Based on the notification alone, in my view, there is a discrepancy between this ruling and the Court’s June 26 decision,” he added.
Kurti emphasized that while his government has consistently respected Constitutional Court decisions, the current delay sets a worrying precedent and may indicate deeper institutional issues.
