The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, commemorated the martyrs Bekim Berisha – Abeja, Bedri Shala, Elton Zherka, and Përmet Vula on the 26th anniversary of their fall.

In a post on his Facebook account, Kurti expressed that these martyrs were unyielding fighters who set an example for all those who later voluntarily joined the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK).

“Today, on the 26th anniversary of their fall, we remember the martyrs of Kosovo’s freedom: Bekim Berisha – Abeja, Bedri Shala, Elton Zherka, and Përmet Vula. On August 10, 1998, these four fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army fell as martyrs fighting against Serbian forces in the Junik area.

Having fallen in the early months of the war in Kosovo, Bekim, Bedri, Elton, and Përmet were unyielding fighters whose activities and battles served as an example to all those who later voluntarily joined the ranks of the UÇK. Glory to Bekim Berisha – Abeja, Bedri Shala, Elton Zherka, and Përmet Vula, among the martyrs who fell for Kosovo’s freedom!” wrote the Prime Minister.
