Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that the increased readiness and presence of Serbian armed forces near the border with Kosovo is believed to be a reaction to the “Defender Europe 2025” military exercise, which Kosovo is also hosting.
“The increased readiness and presence of Serbian armed forces at our border, we believe, is a reaction to Defender Europe 2025. But what we do not yet know is whether Serbia is doing this independently or if Russia has requested it,” Kurti emphasized during the government meeting.
He also spoke about the participation of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) in the exercise, saying that Kosovo’s institutions are proving capable of hosting complex events on their territory.
“Defender Europe 2025” is considered the largest multinational military exercise ever held on Kosovo’s territory.
Led by the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Command, around 25,000 troops from 29 NATO allied and partner countries are participating in the operation.
The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) is part of this exercise, cooperating with the armies of participating countries in activities simulating defensive, offensive, and stability operations.
