On the 25th anniversary of the start of NATO bombings, Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, stated that the just war of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the bombings freed Kosovo from the occupying Serbia.
Kurti wrote on Facebook on Sunday that the bombings over the former Yugoslavia made the genocidal project to exterminate Albanians impossible.
According to Kurti, “without allies and friends, we would not have been liberated then.”
“Without allies and friends, we would not have been liberated then. With allies and friends, we continuously move forward. Over these 25 years, the people and state of Kosovo have deepened, expanded, and intensified the good relations and strong ties with the American people and the United States of America, with European peoples and the European Union. This will continue further because we share the same values and interests and because we have common political and geostrategic visions and objectives,” Prime Minister Kurti wrote.
He declared that Kosovo must become part of NATO.
“The NATO bombings of Yugoslavia from March 24 to June 10, 1999, have made Kosovo a separate and extremely important chapter in NATO’s history. Therefore, naturally and inevitably, Kosovo must become an active participant in NATO’s history by joining this alliance. This is an aspiration of the Republic of Kosovo that needs to be realized: the sooner, the better,” Kurti emphasized.
