Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has stated that no Albanians will be marching over the bridge, refuting Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s claims that “Albanians will march on the Ibar Bridge.”
Vučić had also requested that KFOR “protect the Serbs.”
In response to these statements, Kurti asserted that such false accusations are often a precursor to a planned attack by Serbia.
“By falsely accusing Albanians of marching over the bridge, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić aims to create an atmosphere of fear and provoke a reaction from KFOR in Mitrovica, threatening that if they do not respond, Serbia will take action.”
“No Albanian is marching over the bridge, as he falsely claims. All plans for opening the bridge were intended to encourage peaceful interaction between the two communities. However, these false accusations are often a precursor to a planned attack by Serbia. For the safety of everyone, they should not and will not be allowed to enter our territory,” Kurti wrote.
Additionally, a protest by Serbs in northern Kosovo has been scheduled for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Veton Elshani, the Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the north, has refuted the Serbian president’s claims, stating that “no assembly has been reported in the south of Mitrovica.”
