Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has announced that the Government of Kosovo is making major investments in the country’s critical infrastructure.
In a post shared on Facebook, Kurti published footage from ongoing works in the north, stating: “Vital investments for our critical infrastructure. The Ibër Lepenc canal is becoming more sustainable and safer.”
Earlier, the Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, had announced that the €13 million rehabilitation project for the canal is nearing completion.
“For this project, Ibër Lepenci had inherited a problematic contract which had only 10% implementation over several years. However, following contract termination and re-announcement, in the past two years implementation has reached about 90% and is expected to be completed in the coming months. The 49-kilometer canal is vital for electricity production, drinking water supply, and agricultural irrigation. Of the 20 km of the canal’s open section, 10 km—which was in most need—is now being rehabilitated through the Ibër Lepenc project with the World Bank, supported by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo,” Rizvanolli stated.
