Prime Minister Albin Kurti has issued a stark warning about potential future attacks in northern Kosovo, particularly around the New Year period. Speaking at a press conference, Kurti linked these anticipated threats to individuals affiliated with Milan Radoičić, whom he accused of orchestrating the late-November explosion at the Ibër-Lepenc water channel in Zubin Potok.
“Such methods of undermining security in the Republic of Kosovo—which include damaging vital infrastructure, inciting interethnic incidents fueled by Serbia, spreading panic among citizens, and creating the image of an unstable state—are expected to occur again, particularly before and after New Year,” Kurti stated.
Commitment to Countering Threats
Kurti emphasized his government’s dedication to neutralizing these security challenges despite acknowledging the complexity of addressing state-sponsored terrorism.
“We are committed to neutralizing these remaining methods of Serbia to the maximum extent possible, even though such terrorist attacks are challenging to counter, especially when supported and sponsored by another state—in this case, Serbia,” he noted.
Serbia’s Role in Destabilization
Kurti reiterated allegations of Serbia’s involvement in destabilizing Kosovo through acts of sabotage and terrorism, accusing Belgrade of sponsoring tactics to create instability and fear.
The warning underscores heightened tensions in the region as Kosovo’s institutions brace for potential security threats during the festive season.
