Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that Kosovo’s relations with the United States remain intact, though there are some differences between the two countries.

A week after the U.S. suspended strategic dialogue planning with Kosovo, Kurti clarified that the differences relate to Kosovo’s stance toward Serbia and parallel structures in the north.

Serious Approach to U.S. Messages

Kurti emphasized that the government takes U.S. statements and messages seriously:

“I want to clarify that this concerns the suspension of strategic planning, not the strategic dialogue process itself. We haven’t broken ties with the U.S., but we do have some differences. The government treats U.S. messages and statements seriously.”

He added that the differences are mainly diplomatic, concerning Kosovo’s approach toward Serbia and illegal structures in the north.

Kurti also noted that opposition parties tend to exaggerate developments negatively, but he does not want to minimize recent events in Kosovo-U.S. relations.
