Prime Minister Albin Kurti has announced plans to reintroduce in the Assembly the draft law on price caps, which he said will protect citizens “from abuse through inflated prices.”

“We must bring back the law on price caps,” Kurti said during his speech in the Assembly.

He referenced global crises and wars while discussing high prices.

“The world is moving from one crisis to another. One war ends, and another begins, which we never imagined. From the pandemic in 2020, to the war in Ukraine in 2022, and now the latest conflict in the Middle East, combined with the energy crisis of 2022, now added to the one in 2026. You know that for each challenge, we have responded with concrete packages,” he said.

Kurti emphasized that support has been provided to all social categories.

“There are traders and large businesses that have abused the crisis to artificially increase prices,” he said.

“Very soon we will bring this back here for a vote, and we expect the opposition to also reflect and support us on this draft law,” Kurti added.
