Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed Canada’s non-resident Ambassador to Kosovo, Jessica Blitt, along with a delegation of Canadian senators: Rebecca Patterson, Krista Ross, and Mary Robinson.

Kurti expressed deep gratitude for Canada’s longstanding support to Kosovo, highlighting the sheltering of over 7,000 refugees during the war, the contribution of more than 2,000 Canadian troops to KFOR, and over $150 million in development aid since 1999.

He congratulated Ambassador Blitt on Canada’s recent parliamentary elections and extended an invitation to the new Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, for an official visit to Kosovo.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in defense and security, notably Kosovo’s participation in Defender Europe 2025 and its inclusion in Canada’s Military Training Cooperation Program (MTCP) since November 2024. Kurti expressed readiness to further expand economic and trade cooperation, emphasizing Kosovo’s investment opportunities.

They also discussed regional security challenges, neighborly relations, and current international issues.

Prime Minister Kurti thanked the delegation for the visit and emphasized Canada’s importance as a democratic ally and a strong bilateral partner.
