Mimoza Kusari-Lila, the leader of the “Alternativa” party, emphasized that in contrast to previous times, securing a government formation with only the support of non-majority communities is no longer sufficient.

She stated that in the past, cooperation with non-majority communities was both formal and natural, but the numbers no longer add up. Despite the Kosovo Government under Kurti 2 having a majority of 10 more MPs than other coalitions, the collaboration with these parties was more of a formality rather than a necessity. This time, however, the situation is different.

Kusari-Lila emphasized that it is no longer possible to achieve the required minimum number of votes (61) to form a government solely with non-majority communities’ support. She stressed that further discussions would be required to explore other avenues for achieving this number, adding that this process would continue as discussions evolve.

The leader also commented on the refusal by the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, to join a coalition government. She remarked that political decisions should not be driven by personal emotions but should always be based on what is best for the country’s future.

She concluded that actions going forward should focus on the future, rather than being influenced by past experiences, and that all political decisions must be accountable to the structures and electorate.
