Mimoza Kusari-Lila, a Member of Parliament for Vetëvendosje (LVV), stated that holding new parliamentary elections would not be the optimal solution for Kosovo’s current political situation. She warned of negative consequences for all political parties involved.

“I have said from the beginning that it might remain the only option, but absolutely not the most favorable for citizens,” Kusari-Lila said on “Interaktiv.” “Another round of national elections, without a result in forming institutions, would reflect poorly on all parties.” She added that citizens are tired of electoral processes and that voter participation might be very low.

The LVV MP clarified that while she is not entirely against new elections if they become the sole option, they should ideally be held on the same day as municipal elections on October 12 to avoid overburdening citizens.

Parliamentary Deadlock and Albulena Haxhiu’s Candidacy

Kusari-Lila also commented on the ongoing parliamentary deadlock, with the Assembly set to hold its 30th constitutive session tomorrow (Wednesday). She described the situation as the “most difficult position” for MPs.

She emphasized that the core issue is not the name of Albulena Haxhiu as the candidate for Speaker, but rather a fundamental principle being violated by opposing parties. “It’s a bad precedent that could create the impression that Haxhiu was merely a tactical move by Kurti to push other parties to accept another candidate. It’s not about the name – it’s about principle,” she stressed.

The Kosovo Assembly remains blocked due to a lack of consensus on electing the Speaker, with successive failures to form the secret ballot committee.

Future Political Plans

Kusari-Lila, who also chairs the Alternativa party, confirmed that they currently have no political agreement with LVV for the municipal elections. She also indicated that she does not intend to run for Mayor of Gjakova.

In the interview, she also touched upon a possible withdrawal from politics, stating, “I will not retire in politics. I don’t expect others to remove me. It’s an option I always consider.
