Emergency services in Kyiv announced that the death toll from a massive Russian attack carried out yesterday has risen to 21, with over 130 people injured, reports RFE.

Russia launched dozens of drones and missiles towards Kyiv on Tuesday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described it as “one of the most horrific attacks” Moscow has conducted against the Ukrainian capital in the three-year war.

“In total, 21 people have died in the capital and 134 others have been injured,” Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said in a Telegram post. The announcement added that 16 bodies were recovered from the rubble of a nine-story residential building in the Solomianski district. Previously, officials in Kyiv had reported 14 casualties.

Zelensky’s Appeal and Russia’s Claims

Zelensky stated that 440 drones and 32 missiles were launched across Ukraine, urging the international community “not to close its eyes.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed it carried out precise strikes against “military industry buildings in the Kyiv region.”

More than three years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has intensified its attacks despite U.S. efforts to achieve a ceasefire. Talks in this regard have stalled. Moscow has rejected an “unconditional” ceasefire demanded by Kyiv and its European allies, while Ukraine has rejected Russia’s demands, labeling them as “ultimatums.”
