Russian forces struck a United Nations aid convoy in Ukraine’s Kherson region, parts of which are occupied by Moscow, Kyiv said on October 14, adding that there were no casualties in the attack.
The head of the regional military administration stated that Russian drones and artillery carried out strikes near the town of Bilozerka, located along the front line.
“The occupiers deliberately targeted UN OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) trucks with drones and artillery,” local official Oleksandr Prokudin wrote on social media.
He said the convoy consisted of four vehicles — one was completely burned, another severely damaged, while the remaining two escaped the attack.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga condemned the incident as “another brutal violation of international law, proving Russia’s total disregard for civilian life and its international obligations.”
The United Nations has not yet commented on the incident, nor has there been any reaction from Moscow.
Prokudin also shared a photo showing a white truck bearing the World Food Programme (WFP) logo engulfed in flames.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Ukrainian authorities and humanitarian organizations have repeatedly reported that their staff and facilities have been targeted by Russian attacks.
