Miroslav Lajčak, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, held discussions with Benjamin Haddad, the French Minister for Europe, regarding the ongoing dialogue process and the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
Lajčak thanked France for its continued support in the dialogue process. He expressed his satisfaction about the meeting, highlighting the importance of progress in the dialogue and the dynamic situation in the Western Balkans.
“Always a pleasure to be in Paris and meet with Minister Benjamin Haddad. We had a good discussion on the dynamics in the Western Balkans and the importance of progress in the dialogue for normalizing relations. Thank you to France for its strong support in this process,” Lajčak wrote on the social media platform X.
Recently, the European Union warned that if the parties fail to engage in meaningful dialogue to normalize their relations, they will lose the opportunity for EU membership. This comes after Serbia threatened to withdraw from the dialogue process, citing Kosovo’s pressure to close schools operating within the parallel Serbian system in Kosovo
