As his mandate nears its conclusion, Miroslav Lajčák, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, held a key meeting with U.S. Assistant Secretary Alexander Kasanof in Washington, DC.

Lajčák announced that during the meeting, they engaged in a comprehensive discussion about the Western Balkans. In a statement shared on social media, he expressed pride in the strong cooperation between the European Union and the United States throughout his tenure.

“My first mission in 2025 brought me to Washington, DC, where I had an all-encompassing discussion about the Western Balkans with U.S. Assistant Secretary Alexander Kasanof. I am proud of the excellent EU-US cooperation during my mandate,” Lajčák stated.

Lajčák’s Mandate Ends on January 31

Miroslav Lajčák’s role as the EU’s Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is set to conclude on January 31. Throughout his mandate, he has played a pivotal role in mediating between the parties and strengthening international collaboration on Western Balkans issues.
