The Mayor of the Municipality of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, announced that today he held a meeting with the representative of the families affected by the landslide in a neighborhood of the village of Leskovec, writes Rks News.
According to the mayor, after inspections on the ground and evaluations by experts, it was found that the landslide is still active and presents a serious risk to several houses and the lives of the residents living there. In some areas, there have been cracks and shifting of the land up to 1.5 meters deep and over 50 meters long.
During this meeting, several decisions were made, such as: the immediate evacuation of residents from the at-risk houses; ensuring temporary and safe housing for these citizens; and the Municipality will cover the rent for the evacuated families until a permanent solution to the problem is found.
