The Kosovo Police has successfully concluded a major operation in the Prishtina Region targeting illegal activities related to pyramid schemes and unauthorized gambling.
Operation Details and Arrests
The operation commenced on April 25, 2025, following credible intelligence, and spanned several locations within the region. According to police announcements, 91 premises were observed and verified, with detailed checks conducted in 60 of them.
“As part of this operation, 34 individuals were arrested on suspicion of direct involvement in these illegal activities. Of these, 8 have been detained for 48 hours, while 26 have been released through regular procedure,” stated the official police announcement.
Business Closures and Seizures
Furthermore, 15 businesses were closed by inspectors from the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade and municipal inspectorates due to lack of proper documentation or licenses.
During the operation, 25 criminal cases were initiated for offenses including: organizing gambling, unauthorized possession of narcotic substances, unlicensed firearm possession, and cultivation and processing of drugs.
Police Statement and Seized Evidence
“This operation is proof of our professionalism and commitment to guaranteeing public order and safety. The fight against illegal activities is our priority,” the Police declared.
Material evidence seized during the action includes: 18 gambling machines, 1 AK-47 automatic rifle, 1 handgun, laboratory equipment for drug cultivation, 5,544.40 euros in cash, 3 laptops, ticket printing and scanning equipment, and 16 phones suspected of being used for illegal online betting payments.
