Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Kosovo to discuss several key issues, including the advancement of bilateral relations with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani. He highlighted the importance of regional stability and the European Union’s potential support for Kosovo.
One major topic was the EU sanctions imposed on Kosovo, which Rinkēvičs firmly believes should be lifted. He stated, “The position of my country is clear — the EU should remove these measures, and the sooner, the better.”
Rinkēvičs pledged to return to Latvia and continue discussions with his colleagues about the issue, advocating for Kosovo’s integration into international organizations, including the Council of Europe. He expressed full support for Kosovo’s membership and stressed the benefits of strengthening trade relations, particularly in the pharmaceutical and information technology sectors.
Additionally, Rinkēvičs emphasized Latvia’s significant contribution to KFOR, reflecting his country’s commitment to Kosovo’s stability and security.
