Just one day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the United States, where he is expected to meet with President Donald Trump, Moscow has issued a stark warning regarding the possible supply of American Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a recent interview, reacted to Trump’s comments about potential U.S. military aid to Ukraine. According to Lavrov, any move toward providing long-range missiles would represent a serious escalation of the conflict and would have grave consequences for U.S.-Russia relations.
“He acknowledged that it would be an escalation, and a very serious one. In that case, Ukraine would no longer be the main actor in this conflict. It would simply cause colossal damage to the prospects of normalizing relations between Russia and the United States and to efforts aimed at breaking the total deadlock created by Joe Biden’s administration,” Lavrov declared.
A day earlier, President Trump stated he was “disappointed in Russian President Vladimir Putin,” yet the White House emphasized that the President remains optimistic about achieving a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war.
