Lawyer Ardian Bajraktari stated that the testimony of former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, James Rubin, in the trial of former UÇK leaders, served to establish the truth about the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (UÇK) liberation war.
In an interview with IndeksOnline, Bajraktari emphasized that Rubin is among the most informed individuals regarding the events of 1998–1999, and his testimony included details about Hashim Thaçi’s political coordination with American officials. Rubin even referred to Thaçi at times as if he were serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs during that period.
“James Rubin’s testimony aimed to establish the truth about the UÇK war. Being one of the most informed individuals on the events of 1998–1999, he testified about Mr. Thaçi’s engagements and his political coordination with the Americans. At times, he referred to Mr. Thaçi as if he were performing the role of Foreign Minister,” Bajraktari said.
Bajraktari also highlighted that Rubin’s testimony aligns with historical truth and confirms the support provided by the United States to the UÇK during the war.
“He testified with firm conviction that the UÇK did not commit crimes and did not have a centralized command structure. According to him, if any crimes had been committed, he and the U.S. administration would have known and would not have cooperated with the UÇK,” Bajraktari added.
The lawyer concluded that Rubin’s statements represent the truth.
