The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has issued a statement expressing its full confidence that the Constitutional Court will act in accordance with its constitutional mandate and deliver a fair decision regarding the ongoing institutional deadlock.

In the statement, the LDK emphasizes that it expects a ruling from the Constitutional Court that would pave the way for the parliamentary majority to exercise its right to propose a candidate for Speaker of the Assembly, thereby restoring institutional normalcy.

“The LDK has made it clear that, in line with previous decisions of the Constitutional Court and with the fundamental principles of the parliamentary constitutional system, if the first political subject fails to secure a majority, the right to propose a candidate should pass to the parliamentary majority. A democratic system functions based on majority and responsibility, not on blockade and lack of political will,” the statement reads.

The party further underlines that the Constitutional Court has a key role in ensuring the functioning of institutions and safeguarding the democratic order in full compliance with the Constitution of Kosovo.

“LDK remains committed to upholding the constitutional order and to a governance that reflects the will of the citizens of Kosovo,” the statement concludes.
