Sworn-in Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP, Arben Gashi, stated that it is now time to overcome the crisis and ensure fair representation, moving away from monopolies.
Following the 28th failed attempt to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo, Gashi asserted that Kosovo is currently in a political blockade stemming from deep inequality. According to him, one party holds the monopoly of proposing, while the other has the legitimate right to vote.
Gashi believes there is no equality, no compromise, but rather arrogance. “The party that controls the proposal for the Assembly Speaker wants to achieve its goal without any political compromise. This is an exclusionary approach, not a democratic spirit. And this is unacceptable for us – and for every citizen who believes in political equality,” Gashi wrote on Facebook.
He also criticized the Prime Minister’s expression, “Come on, they’ll give up…”, calling it “neither strategy nor vision. It’s contempt. And institutions cannot be led with contempt.” The MP emphasized that as a representative of citizens, he cannot remain silent.
“We are not here to subjugate each other. We are here to serve Kosovo. And to bring the country out of this crisis with responsibility, integrity, and a clear will for solutions. When arrogance becomes the rule – the citizen must return as the main judge. Either there will be a solution through a fair agreement, or let the citizen speak!” he continued.
As a solution to this political deadlock, Gashi proposed elections. “Elections are the fundamental solution in every democracy. They are the fairest, most legitimate, and most peaceful way to end this damaging blockade.“
