Lutfi Haziri, Deputy Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), said that voting for the Speaker of the Assembly is not merely a procedural matter, as the VETËVENDOSJE (VV) party seems to believe.
“The first party, Mr. Kurti, and his political satellites think this is only a procedural issue. That may be their view, but it’s been tried 20 times and proven otherwise. So, a political action is required,” Haziri stated during the show Real Talk with Maxhuni, aired on Periskop and T7.
He emphasized that building a political majority to change the current approach is necessary, noting:
“We’re not talking about changing the mentality overnight, but Mr. Kurti wants to impose ‘salami-style’ politics. That doesn’t work. Treating the Assembly and its constitution as a procedural issue while also expecting to carry out political decisions — even forming a government — that’s not how democracy works.”
Haziri also expressed doubt that Albin Kurti, leader of VV, has the 61 votes needed to form a new government.
