The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has issued an official statement following Vetëvendosje’s declaration that the Assembly is “constituted,” arguing that such claims are unfounded and unconstitutional.
According to the LDK, the failure to elect a Serb member to the Assembly Presidency cannot be considered an “exhausted process,” and therefore the Assembly remains not fully constituted.
“The Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, and the relevant Constitutional Court rulings are clear and unequivocal regarding the procedures and conditions for the Assembly’s constitution,” the party said in its statement.
The LDK further warned that any attempt to reinterpret or bypass these legal provisions represents a violation of the constitutional order and an undermining of democratic principles on which the state is built.
The statement emphasized that the Assembly cannot function or make decisions until the process of constitution is fully completed in accordance with constitutional and legal requirements.
LDK also criticized the delays in the constitution of the Assembly and the formation of institutions, saying they cause serious damage to the country and disrupt the normal functioning of institutional life.
“The constitutional, political, and moral responsibility for these delays lies entirely with Vetëvendosje and its leadership,” the party stressed.
Finally, the LDK reaffirmed its commitment to the full respect of the constitutional order and democratic rules, pledging to ensure that Kosovo’s institutions operate in line with constitutional norms and serve as an example of democratic governance.
