The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) confirmed it will not support any candidate for Speaker of Parliament in today’s Assembly session unless a political agreement is reached.

Speaking ahead of the session scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on August 20, LDK deputy Besian Mustafa stated that his party’s stance remains unchanged.

“We in LDK have declared that we will not vote for any candidate from another party with whom we do not have a political agreement. If you expect LDK to change its position, that will not happen today,” Mustafa told reporters.

This firm position comes as the Assembly of Kosovo convenes to continue the constitutive session of the ninth legislature, following a Constitutional Court ruling that unblocked the process. The key agenda item remains the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of Parliament.
