The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has announced that its party presidency will convene on Thursday to finalize the list of candidates who will represent the party in the upcoming local elections, scheduled for October 12, 2025.

According to the agenda obtained by Dukagjini Television, the meeting will be held at 16:00, with the primary focus being the official confirmation of mayoral candidates in municipalities across the country.

So far, LDK has already declared candidates for several key municipalities, including Gjilan, Podujeva, Lipjan, Viti, and Vushtrri. However, the full list of contenders has yet to be completed.

Sources within the party indicate that Thursday’s meeting will mark the final stage in preparing LDK’s electoral strategy, with all remaining candidates expected to be confirmed during the session.

LDK, one of Kosovo’s oldest political parties, aims to strengthen its position in local governance following mixed results in previous elections. With the official campaign period drawing closer, finalizing its candidate list is seen as a crucial step in mobilizing support and organizing outreach efforts on the ground.

The October 12 vote will see voters across Kosovo elect new local leadership, including mayors and municipal assemblies. With the political climate increasingly dynamic, the upcoming elections are widely viewed as a key indicator of party strength ahead of future national contests.
