Lumir Abdixhiku has been unanimously endorsed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) as the party’s lead candidate for the 28 December parliamentary elections, effectively positioning him as the nominee for Prime Minister. The party’s General Council did not present any alternative candidates, leaving Abdixhiku as the uncontested choice.

In a detailed speech following his nomination, Abdixhiku outlined LDK’s commitments, which he framed around three pillars:

  1. Institutional stability
  2. Return to the Euro-Atlantic path
  3. Economic development

One of his most striking statements during the gathering emphasized Kosovo’s stagnation in comparison to its neighbors:

“We risk waking up one morning to find the EU’s border has reached us… but Kosovo has been left behind.”

Abdixhiku also asserted that he feels no burden or challenge too heavy to face in the upcoming elections. He highlighted Kosovo’s isolation from Western influence, including the suspension of the Strategic Dialogue with the U.S. and sanctions imposed by the European Union, contrasting the progress of Albania and Montenegro on the Euro-Atlantic track.

“Look at Albania, look at Montenegro,” he said. “While our neighbors advance, Kosovo remains behind.”

Abdixhiku’s speech positions him as a determined leader promising to restore Kosovo’s path toward international integration and economic growth, appealing to voters who are frustrated by the country’s current political and diplomatic stagnation.
