After the 15th failed attempt to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo, Hykmete Bajrami, MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), expressed hope that other political parties will seriously consider LDK’s proposal for a transitional government during the upcoming meeting with President Vjosa Osmani.

“It’s not that we don’t have any other proposal, but the political situation in Kosovo seems to offer no other real alternative. Neither Vetëvendosje nor their coalition partners have the votes. We, the former opposition parties, have also acknowledged that we don’t have the numbers. That’s why we’ve placed this transitional government proposal on the table—to move forward and overcome the deadlock,” Bajrami stated.

She called on all political parties to attend the meeting called by President Osmani, emphasizing that if they oppose LDK’s proposal, they should be the ones to offer a viable solution.

“If they’re against our idea, they must be the ones to make a move,” she added.

Bajrami expressed regret over yet another failed parliamentary session, saying:

“Unfortunately, and not by our will, we’ve become actors in the most unwanted political series in Kosovo.”

She blamed Vetëvendosje (VV) for prolonging the institutional blockage:

“Had they really wanted to unblock the situation, they would have done so by now. There have been parties willing to support other candidates for Assembly Speaker—not Mrs. Haxhiu—but VV has shown no will to compromise. They are the cause of this blockade.”

Bajrami reiterated that VV’s lack of political will is the main barrier and added that VV must speak for themselves when it comes to whether they will attend the President’s meeting.
