Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Nisma political party, has stated that the Vetëvendosje Movement does not have the necessary votes to form a new government. Limaj emphasized that if they had the votes, a Speaker of the Assembly would have been elected long ago.

Deadlock Stems from Lack of Government Majority

“It’s been several months now, and I have consistently said, a governing majority, there are no partial solutions. The issue of the Speaker of the Assembly has become a topic. The foundation of this work is the lack of numbers for a government. As long as there are no numbers for a government, things have remained here. If the votes were there, the government majority would elect the Speaker of the Assembly, and the votes would be demonstrated. Vetëvendosje lacks the votes,” Limaj said.

He added that Nisma is ready to contribute to a solution. “We, as Nisma, have been and will contribute to the solution for building institutions. We will give our contribution. Don’t forget, Nisma only has 3 votes.”

Awaiting Constitutional Court’s Clarity

Limaj believes the situation will be clarified by the Constitutional Court. He stressed the importance of waiting for its decision to avoid hindering the functioning of institutions.

“If you look at the requests, there is a change, both from the deputies and the involvement of the president. To clarify once and for all, to make the establishment of the bodies as simple as possible. The Constitutional Court will clarify the legal consequences and the path that should be followed. I think that now it is in the interest of all of us, after so much time has passed, perhaps for the interest of democracy and the permanent functioning of the institutions, it would be good to wait for the Court’s judgment. According to the instructions, the forces will mobilize to finish establishing the institutions,” he concluded.
