A 27-year-old man died last night in Lipjan under suspicious circumstances. Zejnullah Gashi, Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina, told Reporteri.net that necessary investigations into his death are underway.

“Very Sensitive Situation” Hinders Information Release

According to Gashi, the situation is “very sensitive,” and the cause of death will only be released after forensic examinations are completed. The Chief Prosecutor emphasized to Reporteri.net that he cannot provide further information as it “could bring unnecessary consequences.”

“The case has been initiated. The necessary investigations are being undertaken. We cannot provide information because it might prejudice the situation. It is a very sensitive situation. We can obtain the cause of death after the necessary expertise we have conducted. Investigations are ongoing. The IPK (Kosovo Police Inspectorate) is also engaged. All actions are being taken. We cannot provide any other information as the situation is sensitive, as we do not want to give any information that could bring unnecessary consequences,” Chief Prosecutor Gashi told Reporteri.net.

Police Account of the Incident

Earlier today, the Kosovo Police also made a statement to Reporteri.net, though without detailing the exact circumstances of the death. Kosovo Police spokesperson, Agron Borovci, stated that the deceased was allegedly initially in an intoxicated state, assaulting vehicles and pedestrians on “Haradin Bajrami” street in Lipjan.

“Today, around 00:15, the Police received information that a person, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, was assaulting vehicles and passers-by on ‘Haradin Bajrami’ street in Lipjan. Police units immediately responded to bring the situation under control, while an emergency medical team was also called to the scene, providing first aid to the person in question. Despite efforts, he was found to have passed away,” Borovci said.

“All investigative actions have been undertaken to clarify the case, including securing material evidence and interviewing witnesses. By decision of the State Prosecutor, a criminal investigation has been initiated regarding the case, and the body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy. Currently, the police are continuing investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the event,” Borovci added.
