The EU Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, met with a delegation from Lista Srpska, led by the party’s leader, Zlatan Elek, today in Prishtina.
In a statement to the media, Lista Srpska emphasized to Sorensen the “exceptionally difficult situation” facing the Serbian population in Kosovo.
According to the party, this situation is the result of the “anti-Serb policies” of the Prishtina government.
Lista Srpska further claimed that physical attacks had been carried out against Serb citizens, including children. They also voiced their concerns about the recent political developments, particularly regarding Prime Minister Albin Kurti. The party accused him of giving the mandate for the Minister of Community and Return, Nenad Rašić, with “votes from Albanians,” effectively taking it away from the Serbian population.
“The meeting discussed the violation of the rights of our people, physical attacks on citizens, including children, and the violation of Serbian rights in the last elections, where Kurti gave the mandate to Nenad Rašić with Albanian votes, taking it from the Serbian people’s hands,” the statement read.
Lista Srpska called on Sorensen to remain neutral and do everything possible to ensure that signed agreements are implemented, especially regarding the establishment of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities.
Sorensen, who is in Kosovo for his first official visit, met with state leaders and opposition party heads on his first day.
