The leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Ivica Dačić, stated that the party is not involved, nor will it be involved as long as he is in charge, in any activities or operations against Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the current government.
Earlier, Vučić had claimed that representatives from the SPS participated in some of the lithium protests.
“On the contrary, our alliance is the strongest shield for protecting Serbia and its national and state interests. Therefore, our joint coalition performance in the local elections was of vital importance,” Dačić emphasized, as reported by “Nova.rs.”
He declared that no individual has the right to act differently on behalf of the SPS and added that any deviation would be sanctioned. The SPS leader reacted to the statement by the state president, Aleksandar Vučić, who said that SPS representatives were present at some protests against the lithium mines.
When asked about accusations regarding Mali Zvornik and the protest against Rio Tinto, Vučić said, “Well, even the directors of the largest state enterprises in Serbia gave speeches on this occasion, paid people, encouraged them, like the director of Serbian forests.”
Two days ago, Serbian media reported that an operation codenamed “The Fall of the Wall” is taking place in Mali Zvornik, aiming to overthrow Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. There was talk in Serbia that this could be an internal coup within the coalition, as it was rumored that the highest leaders of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), in cooperation with foreign structures, were part of a plan to oust the president.
