(LSDM) has strongly condemned what it described as offensive behavior by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić toward Radmila Shekerinska during the Munich Security Conference 2026.
According to the party, Vučić used malicious and demeaning language, placing emphasis on Shekerinska’s gender while accusing her of involvement in what he described as the secession of part of Serbia’s territory—referring to Kosovo.
LSDM characterized the incident as a typical example of Vučić’s political style, where personal attacks and chauvinism replace substantive political arguments. The party stressed that targeting women in high-ranking positions—such as Shekerinska in her role as NATO Deputy Secretary General—represents an attempt to undermine their professional achievements through misogyny.
In its reaction, the Macedonian opposition party expressed unwavering support for Shekerinska, rejecting allegations of secessionism and highlighting her international role as evidence of professional competence and credibility.
LSDM concluded by drawing a distinction between what it described as authoritarian regimes, such as Vučić’s administration and VMRO, and the principles of equality and democratic values that it says it represents.
